FAQ
Questions, answered.
What is an AI credit?
One credit covers about one AI reply: a suggested draft, an auto-reply, or a deflection answer. Background AI such as spam filtering, priority detection, and conversation summaries doesn't use credits. Growth-agent tasks that run on our larger model use 5 credits. Credits reset every month.
Can I use just one part of HAL?
Yes. Pick what you need at sign-up, such as online booking or live chat, and HAL shows only that. Online booking, live chat, the inbox, the help center and the CRM are free on every plan. If the part you need is paid, add just that feature: the AI agent, email campaigns or sales tools.
Should I add a feature or take a plan?
One paid feature: add it on its own. Two or more, or you need more projects, seats or allowance: a plan is usually cheaper. Pro includes the AI agent and sales tools; Starter includes email campaigns. If you upgrade to a plan that already includes an add-on, the dashboard tells you so you can cancel it.
Is the AI phone assistant available?
It's in beta. We're setting it up with a few businesses at a time, mostly for phone orders, and pricing it per business: a one-off setup plus usage. Join the beta and tell us how calls reach you today.
What counts as a marketing email?
Broadcasts and emails sent by workflows and campaigns. Conversation replies, notifications, and CSAT surveys are unlimited on every plan. Free includes 100 workflow emails a month; broadcasts need Starter or the Email campaigns add-on. Broadcasts to more than 1,000 recipients must be sent from your own verified sender domain.
What happens when I reach a limit?
Live chat and the inbox keep working. You just can't go past that limit — for example, AI stops drafting once credits run out — until the monthly allowance resets, you add a pack, or you upgrade.
Can I change or cancel my plan anytime?
Yes. Upgrades apply now and you pay only for the rest of the current period. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at your next renewal, so you keep what you paid for. Your card is charged automatically at each renewal, and you can change it or cancel in Settings → Billing. Yearly billing gets two months free.
Where is my data stored?
In the EU. GDPR tooling, conversation and data export, and account deletion with a 30-day grace period are included on every plan.
Can I migrate from another helpdesk?
Yes. The MCP server includes silent conversation import — bring your history from Intercom, Zendesk, or any platform, with visitor matching and no side effects (no webhooks, no notifications to customers).
Why would marketing email sending be paused?
To protect deliverability for everyone. If too many of your recent marketing emails bounce or are marked as spam, broadcasts and campaigns pause until our team reviews it with you. Conversation emails keep flowing.
